Corporate Challenge Action Steps 2022

The Iowa Stops Hunger Corporate Challenge is part of a statewide initiative created by BPC, in partnership with presenting sponsor Hy-Vee, to drive awareness and action around hunger and food insecurity in Iowa. As part of that effort, organizations committed themselves to taking at least one action to help stop hunger, while educating their workforce and the community about this critical issue and inspiring others to take action to end hunger in Iowa. Every action, no matter how large or how small, is needed in order to continue sustained awareness and action toward ending hunger. We hope these organizations’ actions, highlighted on the pages that follow, help inspire you to take an action to help end hunger in the community.

Hy-Vee Inc.

Hy-Vee Doubles Down on Hunger Commitment, Feeding Millions

At Hy-Vee, we are committed to fighting food insecurity across the communities we call home — especially during challenging economic times like these. This past year alone, we raised enough funds to provide more than 28 million meals to Feeding America-affiliated food banks through our “Scan Out Hunger” and “Food Bank Friday” campaigns, in partnership with our customers and supplier partners.

In recognition of our combined efforts, Hy-Vee was among a select group of retailers that were invited to attend the 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health in fall 2022. At the conference, we announced our commitment to deliver even more meals to vulnerable communities by 2025, as well as deploy our registered dietitian team to educate 100,000 Americans in areas of low food access on healthy eating and nutrition by 2026.

Delta Dental of Iowa  |  WesleyLife’s Meals on Wheels So Much More than Meals

Providing Meals to Aging Iowans

As a not-for-profit insurance company, Delta Dental of Iowa believes in caring for the health and wellness of our community.

We recognize food insecurity and social isolation are concerns for many aging Iowans. One of the ways we invested in our community in 2022 was providing $50,000 to WesleyLife’s Meals on Wheels So Much More than Meals campaign. Funds from Delta Dental and other community partners will be used to renovate a new facility, increasing capacity for meal production and intergenerational social interaction.

Our investment in this project addresses the physical, emotional and community well-being of aging Iowans by providing support for our local food system as well as social interaction.

As an Iowa-based company that protects America’s farmers who feed the world, FMH recognizes the importance of supporting members of its local community to join in the fight against food insecurity.
