Iowa Food Bank Association
The association is a collaboration involving food banks and affiliates across Iowa, including the Food Bank of Iowa, Food Bank for the Heartland, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Food Bank of Siouxland, Riverbend Food Bank, St. Stephen’s Food Bank, and the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program. Together, these organizations serve more than 1,000 nonprofit groups— such as pantries, schools, shelters and other sites that distribute food—in all 99 counties. The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers a variety of food assistance programs, including WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and the national school lunch program, as well as help for senior citizens.
